December 10, 2012

Scott L. Hazan, a partner at Otterbourg, participated in a panel at the New York State Bar Association on Advising Distressed Businesses and Business Bankruptcy Cases presented in New York City on December 13, 2012.

Other participating panelists included United States Bankruptcy Judges for the Southern and Eastern District of New York: Sean Lane, Shelly Chapman and Elizabeth Stong.  Scott primarily addressed the numerous motions that are filed with a Chapter 11 petition and are usually heard on the “First Day” and, as such, are generally known as the “First Day Motions”.  Examples of “First Day Motions” include: motions to obtain financing, motions to pay wages, and, generally, other motions addressing the daily operations of a business.  For more information see here.
