Two Partners at Otterbourg Selected as Top Women Lawyers in New York

Melanie L. Cyganowski and Valerie S. Mason were both selected to the Top 50 Women New York Super Lawyers 2012.
Ms. Cyganowski is the former Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern District of New York where she served for 14 years. She practices in the insolvency and bankruptcy litigation group at the firm. She has served as counsel to the official committees of unsecured creditors in numerous cases. She also represents the FDIC in bankruptcy cases and frequently serves as a mediator, as well as a court appointed auditor, referee or in similar roles in bankruptcy cases, in addition to acting as an expert witness.
Ms. Mason practices with the finance group at the firm where she has worked on high profile financings involving both domestic and international businesses as well as workouts and restructurings. She has been involved in complex financings for acquisitions, refinancings and restructurings, including debtor-in-possession and exit financings. Ms. Mason has represented the lead lender and arranger for transactions involving major national retailers, telecommunications companies, transportation companies and manufacturers in a variety of industries.
