Melanie Cyganowski Appointed as a Master Disbursement Trustee in Purdue Pharma Bankruptcy Plan

Otterbourg partner Melanie Cyganowski has been appointed as one of the Master Disbursement Trustees in connection with the post-confirmation Purdue Pharma bankruptcy plan.
The disbursement plan was updated following a 2024 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned a previous settlement and was approved last month by the Bankruptcy Court.
The Master Disbursement Trust plays a significant role in the case, paving the way for the resolution of disputes and the distribution of settlement funds.
Cyganowski, along with her co-trustees, will manage and distribute funds, and serve as a fiduciary to ensure all disbursements align with the trust’s governing documents.
