ABF Journal Recognizes Valerie Mason as an Industry Trailblazer

May 22, 2025

Otterbourg partner Valerie Mason, co-chair of the firm’s Lender Finance practice, has been recognized by ABF Journal as one of its Trailblazers in the publication’s “Leaders & Legends” issue. The list profiles female leaders in finance who “aren’t just sharing stories – they’re laying down a roadmap.”

Mason’s practice focuses primarily on structuring financing transactions for domestic and overseas banks as well as commercial finance companies and hedge funds. She is cited for her keen ability to handle “complex financial deals involving multiple layers of debt and equity” all while delivering “strategic, high-pressure solutions tailored not her clients’ needs.”

ABF Journal notes that Mason’s impact extends well beyond her transactional work, having been honored last year by the New York Institute of Credit for her “professional achievements and notable contributions to advancing women’s careers.” In addition, Mason is lauded for her “values of integrity and mentorship [that] are prominent in her interactions with colleagues and mentees.”
