Otterbourg Partner Receives New York State Assembly Women of Distinction Award

March 17, 2017

Otterbourg partner Valerie S. Mason has received the New York State Assembly ‘Women of Distinction’ award, which recognized her outstanding work on behalf of her community.

As president of the East 72nd Street Neighborhood Association, her civic dedication and service have had a positive impact on the neighborhood and the residents of the Upper East Side. Ms. Mason, along with the 20 other recipients, was honored at the third annual awards ceremony at Marymount Manhattan College on March 17.

The award, presented by State Assembly Woman Rebecca A. Seawright, is a celebration of Women’s History Month, with the goal of inspiring the next generation of female leaders. It is given annually to women in District 76 (The Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island) who have demonstrated hard work and commitment while improving their community.

Ms. Mason represents clients involved in complex financings for acquisitions, refinancings and restructurings, and debtor-in-possession and exit financings. She has worked on transactions involving companies that are major national retailers, telecommunications companies, transportation companies and manufacturers of a variety of products. She has been at Otterbourg since 1998 and is a graduate of Duke University School of Law.
